Holy Week Worship Schedule:
Lent 2010 : 40 Days of Spiritual Renewal The Spreading Flame As Luke writes, the first Christians met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity - all while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people (Acts 2:44-47). In this spirit, we invite you to join your Bethel family and practice the following spiritual disciplines for a Lenten journey that will lead you into deeper relationships with God and others.
You just need to remember it’s as easy as 2-2-1 2 - Daily Prayer and Daily Scripture Reading 2 - Weekly Worship and Weekly Bible Study 1 - One Service Activity
Commitment 1 - Daily Prayer Beginning and ending the day in prayer are ways of offering the day to God and retuning thanks for the day. Prayers around food are an ancient practice to welcome God's presence and offer thanks. Taking time for daily personal reflection and prayer are essential to strengthening your relationship with God.
Commitment 2 - Daily Scripture Reading God addresses us through the Bible. Perhaps it is best to read scripture in conjunction with your daily prayer. Suggested daily readings from the book of Acts are listed for your personal reflections. Also refer to the 2010 Lenten Devotional Book which has daily devotions written by various Bethel staff and leaders.

Commitment 3 - Weekly Worship Worship is an important aspect of spiritual renewal. Current weekly worship opportunities along with the mid-week Lenten services provide a total of seven weekly options at Bethel to fulfill this commitment. The Revised Common Lectionary, Year C: Mobile Version

Commitment 4 - Weekly Bible Study Another component of the 40 Days program is participation in a Bible Study once per week during Lent (six sessions). The 2010 Bible Study on the Book of Acts is available. Participants may choose to study in a small group, in a pastor led study, or with a group on the internet. You may register for a small group on the Lent 2010 brochure registration form or by contacting:Stacy Gahlman-Schroeder | Email
Home Group Bible Study These study groups meet primarily in member homes (or at Bethel or other agreed upon locations, such as a coffee house), includes 6 to 10 people per group and are organized by a facilitator.
Pastor Led Bible Studies Bethel will host pastor led one-hour Bible Studies eleven times per week during Lent (see the schedule below). Unless noted, all Bible studies are held at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Internet Group Bible Study The on-line Bible study group is for those who cannot regularly meet in a small group at Bethel or in a home, and have access to high speed internet. In a way, the 1-hour small group meeting is spread out over the week, so participants can respond to each other and generate an online discussion. The online group also meets one Sunday morning at church in the Genesis Café.
Commitment 5 - One Service Activity Helping at least one person in need is your final Lenten commitment. We invite you to find a person who needs your love and care, an organization that needs your volunteer time or you can join us on March 20 for Diakonia Day.
Diakonia Day: Saturday, March 20 Diakonia is the Greek word for service. On March 20, we will find ways to Care About Madison. A team of Bethel members are finding projects that will make a difference in the lives of people in Dane County. If you choose to participate you will arrive at Bethel in the morning on March 20 and select a service project that Bethel has organized. These projects may include painting a home, cleaning a yard, doing other manual labor, or visiting a person in need of friendship. A complete list of the projects will be available prior to March 20.
God bless your spiritual adventure!
